Brew yourself a cup of coffee and let’s get to planning!
“If you don’t plan ahead, you plan to fail”
–Benjamin Franklin
Picking a planner is a big commitment, I mean this book is going to help you succeed or teach you what you need in order to succeed next year. You are entitled to like your planner, you will be toting this book around with you EVERYWHERE for 12 whole months! My favorite planner is from Blue Sky, it’s a 8×11 hardcover book with a million tabs and lines to write notes on π
Now that you have an awesome planner.. what do you put in it?
Well friend, let’s take a look at what I put in my planner for some inspiration.
The most important thing to remember is your planner will not look like mine, and mine will not look like yours, nor hers, or theirs. Whatever keeps you and your chaos organized is the right way to plan.

Motivation
Not only do I utilize my planner to keep my life somewhat organized, I also fill it with quotes that inspire me to work hard so that someday I can play harder than i work.
Some of my favorite quotes are:
“Go as far as you can see… Then go as far from there as you can see.. ” -unknown
“Take the risk, or lose the chance.” -unknown
“There are people less qualified than you doing the things you want to do, simply because they decided to believe in themselves.” -unknown
“Be. Do. Have.” -unknown
Sometimes to get me through the week it’s as simple as a motivational quote that hits a string deep down. Most of my motivational quotes are about taking chances and saying ‘screw you fear’. For others it may be more about continuing when you’re tired, or picturing the view from the other side. Regardless, we all need a little reminder to take a walk on the side of opportunity at some point.
Important Dates
Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, angel days, holidays, long weekends, vacations, listing/closings and grand openings are all very important to keep track of!
Weekly Goals
Each week in the little ‘notes’ section I write my weekly goals that contribute to my monthly and yearly goals. I am a very type A person, so I make a check list to check off as I go through the week. This week my goals are:
-Read for 20 min/day
-Exercise for 30 min/day
-List 3 things I’m grateful for/day
-Tell my Husband “I love you”
-Reach out to 3 leads/day
Weekly Tasks
Deciding what days I’m going to meal prep, create new content and have date night is overwhelming looking at a blank schedule.. so I make a giant list of tasks that need to be done this week and as my days fill in, I can organize which days make the most sense to tackle different tasks! This makes planning the week soooo easy, it’s like playing tetris with time blocks.
MEETINGS
Between meetings at my Monday-Friday job, meeting with homeowners, contractors, sellers, buyers and friends meetings take up a lot of space in my planner. One of my biggest fears is missing a meeting because I didn’t write down the date/time/location!
Daily Tasks
Meal prep, chores around the house, print marketing material, design new campaigns, grocery shopping… they’re all great things that only get done if you plan to do them! These tasks get moved from the mega weekly task list to the manageable daily task list.

My favorite Sunday activity is to take time to plan the week ahead, my husband and I sit down together to compare/fill in our weeks. We start with important dates, our mega tasks, meetings that are set, our goals for the week, daily tasks and end with finding a motivational quote for the week. Pro Tip: this totally counts as a date night if you let it!
