Maybe you just moved into a fixer-upper, you’ve been dreaming of updating your bathrooms or you just like to get ideas, let’s talk about the design-neglected square footage that most of your guests see, yes i’m talking about your bathroom!

If you’re anything like me, you’re unsure of what you want your space to look like until it’s finished. Sure, you’re living room, bedrooms and guest room all have a theme of their own, so what do you do with the bathroom?!
Start by getting inspiration.. what colors, patterns, designs and decor do you naturally go towards? For me, it’s anything modern yet industrial that has a simple design.
Step 1: first things first, your space needs a Facelift! Depending on the size of your bathroom and the vibe you’re aiming for, pick a color that makes you happy and matches well with your unique style. From bathrooms with dark, moody, gemstone colors to bright, sunshine and rainbows all the way to monochromatic black and white, whatever color scheme fits you and your household is the right choice. If you have the extra cash, and time, consider adding some visual depth to your space. This is commonly done by adding a ‘wow’ wall (or walls) with shiplap, tile, wallpaper, exposed brick or adding paneling.
Step 2: Upgrade your hardware. My favorite Saturday activity is browsing the aisles of our local habitat for humanity (and surfing on amazon.com) for light fixtures, hardware and unique decor items. In our 1/2 bath I found a farmhouse/industrial light fixture (new $75, I paid $12at Habitat for Humanity), set of floating shelves $65 (amazon.com), towel ring $10 and toilet paper holder $12 (amazon.com). I also found the perfect size mirror on Facebook marketplace for $20.00 that just needed a can of spray paint. Eventually, I will replace the faucet to match the hardware, but for now I like the mismatch, it reminds me of our everyday life ๐

Step 3: Style your space with pieces that are as unique as you and your household. Maybe your a succulent kind of person, or maybe your a provocative ‘get naked’ sign kind of person. No matter what you do, this is your time to personalize your space and give your guests something to keep them busy. Etsy is my favorite as it has endless options of funny, sarcastic, witty and sophisticated bathroom pieces. Plus, with Etsy you get to support a small business and make your 1/2 bathroom dreams come true!

I found the ‘get naked’ sign on Etsy at NiftyNickeys shop, she’s a veteran and makes the cutest, affordable signs with quick shipping!
The faux plants are an Ikea special, $4.99 with a $0.99 cent pot.
